Mostly just photos of our trip to the Red House…the girls were both sick during our visit, and our nights were (still are) rather short and broken up, so we mostly kept quiet and enjoyed Grannie and Pake taking care of us. We did get to introduce the little Bird to her great-Opa, whose birthday was two days before her birth, ninety-seven years apart, and to her second cousin, born two months earlier.
The night before we left, as Bean was up with the start of a fever, sweet little Bird was awake and singing yet again, and we were anticipating our 4am wake up time, we did look at each other and share a moment of “what kind of irresponsible plan was this, flying to visit family less than two weeks after the baby was born???” But it was so worth it, really, sick babies and all. There’s something very grounding about the “home place”, and restorative too.
